Going on dates can be exhausting in the best of circumstances, so it makes sense that a good number of women are marriage and family therapist David Klow, the owner of Skylight Counseling Center in Chicago, agrees, noting that dating is harder now than it ever has been.“Never before has the search for a partner been so encompassing,” he says.“We are looking for a partner, friend, lover, companion, potential coparent, and co-CEO of a potential family; in previous times our expectations in love and marriage were much lower.” Searching for someone who checks all those boxes can be draining and lead to dating burnout, he says, particularly because there are so many ways to meet people.But how can you know if you’re just frustrated with dating or legitimately exhausted by it?
